Action Planning for Short-Term Response

As an administrator, you will likely lead the “on the ground” response immediately following a sexual behavior incident. Use the following guide to help ensure appropriate supervision and support. Consider how your responses might change based on the kind of sexual behavior displayed.

Immediately following the incident:

  1. Ensure that all students are safe and staff members use line-of-sight supervision practices for all students involved until you have more information about the behavior or incident.
  2. Speak with students and staff members as appropriate to gather additional information about the behavior. Use resources in this course and available to your program to consider the factors involved to decide whether or not the behavior is normative.
Considerations Plans
Which students currently need additional support?

What behaviors are you looking for?

What supervision plans will you use?

Shadowing(constant monitoring of a particular student)
Targeted(increased supervision in particular program areas or times)

How will you implement and support the supervision plans?

What will staff do to redirect and model if the behavior reoccurs?

Do families need additional information or resources?

What curriculum or programmatic changes would help prevent the behavior?
